This post is aimed at those tourists who only have a few days to enjoy Ibiza and a small part of the island they can visit.
It’s OK to leave some things unvisited because that gives a good excuse to come back but it’s also important to choose wisely where to go; the experience can be radically different.
For this reason, and starting today, I’ll be doing a TOP5 of beaches, places, villages … so you’ll have all the information you need to choose freely and wisely.
Today I’ll be sharing my top5 beaches. Each is a symbol of Ibiza for its beauty and its spectacular scenery.
Salinas
It’s a long and beautiful beach of white sand and turquoise waters where you can take a long walk without missing out on the ‘summer wildlife’ of Ibiza. A parade of vendors, tattoos, muscles, silicone, public relations and club animators will make you connect with the partying Ibiza in midsummer. Fun in summer and a paradise the rest of the year.
Cala Conta
They say it has the clearest water of the whole island and I’ve seen it every time I’ve been there. The sunset from there is one of the great attractions of Ibiza due to the colour of the water, the landscape, the islets in front and the multicoloured sky. Mind you, going to spend a day there mid-August can be overwhelming, it is a beautiful beach with not that much sand and with so many people it loses some of its magic, but the rest of the year it’s not to be missed.
Cala d’Hort
What makes Cala d’Hort so special is no secret, it’s the overwhelming presence of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell. The two stunning islands rise up in front of the bather, giving the impression that they protect him from afar. And beyond the mysteries and stories that surround them, the beach is spectacularly beautiful due to the surroundings; pine trees, cliffs, the stone beach, the multicoloured water … definitely a must see whatever the the time of year.
Aguas Blancas
This beach is the longest in the eastern part of the island and has a lot of charm. No hotels or houses nearby, just a couple of beach bars, I don’t know what it is that makes Aguas Blancas love at first sight. Residence of beach tennis fans, artisans and vendors working in the markets, you can even surf some winter days.
Benirrás
How can one not visit a cove where you can find the Finger of God and which can be admired in beer commercials?
Benirrás is certainly the one hat has sold herself the best. Every Sunday, with the sunset, you can find a myriad of tourists, swimmers, residents, hippies and many peculiar people dancing to the sound of drums. Don’t forget to take a good camera along because you can take some great photos of the moment. If you don’t like crowds, you’d better go another day, the sun sets just as beautifully and the Finger of God is still in the same place.
