Travelling, enjoying a real holiday and getting away from routine and obligations is in some cases mission impossible.
Responsibilities and day-to-day sometimes wears us out so much that when we go on holidays we need quite a few days before being fully able to enjoy our free time and we find it difficult to make the most out of what is, undoubtedly, our moment.
Sometimes, when you start to experience the true feeling of being on holiday, it’s time for your flight back and to start with your life again without having really been able to disconnect or only having slightly felt the joy of leisure, it’s like sleeping standing up.
To enjoy a real holiday there is an exercise you should try before, specially those of you who find it hard to disconnect. It is really important to realise that no one is indispensable and that the world will continue spinning without you. Missing a week or two at the office, not opening your mailbox at home or not visiting your family will not only not provoke a catastrophe but, best of all, will give you all the energy you need to tackle everything and everyone when you get back and will make you love your routine a little bit more.
The second important thing is to travel with someone you want to, with whom you feel comfortable with and relaxed and with whom you know you’re sure to enjoy come what may. I choose to travel with my family, because it is with them that I really enjoy the small and big things in life.
