Choosing Ibiza as your holiday destination is always a wise option. However, to really enjoy the experience you have to know when to come, because Ibiza in April is very different from Ibiza in June, August or even October.
Everyone has their own preferences and reasons to choose a month over another. For me the best months are those in which it is hot but not as much as in mid-summer and when you can already have a swim at the beach, so in my experience the best months are May and October.
In May the water is still quite cold for chilly people but it is the time when children enjoy themselves more than ever, they’re never cold (at least mine aren’t) and the water is really beautiful.
Hardly any boats have arrived so the water is so clean and clear you almost want to drink it. And snap-shots are better than ever due to the colour of the water and the fact that there is hardly anyone around and most beaches haven’t even put out the umbrellas. One feels more like a fortunate explorer on a semi-deserted island than like a tourist.
And October also has its magic. The weather is still warm, it doesn’t rain and the sea temperature is more pleasant than in May after having received all the summer sun. There are also fewer tourists than in summer so you can spend a whole day at any of the famous beaches without having to fight over for your square metre of sand.
June and September are also very good months, there are more tourists but there is also a livelier atmosphere. So if you want to have both beach and relax and party these will be your favourite months. All the restaurants, bars, terraces, beach clubs and night clubs are open as well so you can enjoy all the leisure offer the island has to suit everyone.
And then you have July and August, dreaded by those who live here, because they are really crazy months. Everything is focused on the thousands of tourists who choose those months to “let themselves go”. Personally I’d rather not choose those months for my holidays in Ibiza but if so many people do there must be a reason I have yet to discover.
From November to April the island is purified, everything calms down and returns to its true self, untamed pure nature still to be discovered, with no tourists nor electronic music nor night-clubs. Doesn’t sound like a bad option to come over during those months, don’t you think so?
That’s all for today’s post because there aren’t more months left. Now it’s up to you to choose the type of Ibiza you want to live. Not that you can’t have more than one.
