Ibiza, the biggest of the called Pitiusa Islands, is known for its parties, discos and clubs and a hippie past, but it is also a fantastic place to enjoy a holiday with kids and family. What I like the most about it are its crystalline waters and natural landscapes, while a drink my favourite cocktail laying in a deck chair and the kids play in the sand, it is a dream come true for any parent. Today I show you the four best beaches and coves that you simply cannot miss if you come to Ibiza with kids.
Cala Conta
The Conta cove, also called Comte, is perfect for you to feel like you’re in a paradise thanks to its crystalline and transparent waters. It’s one of my favourites. It is like a wild beach at the bottom of a Cliff. Plus, if you like and feel attracted to marine wildlife you must bring your diving glasses, they are never missing from my beach bag. Cala Conta is perfect for snorkelling thanks to the clarity of its waters. You’ll be able to see the ocean floor with its impressive fauna and flora. ¡The kids will love it!
Right in front of Cala Conta there are a bunch of little islands that can be reached by swimming, and I love that since I always try to explorer further than where I am.
Another of the reasons for which I chose this cove is because of its amazing sunset. In Ibiza there are a lot of places from where you can enjoy one of nature’s most spectacular events. The sunset. Without a doubt, Cala Conta is one of those places. A perfect plan to end the evening before returning to the hotel or home.
Cala D’Hort
Cala D’Hort is a much appreciated cove for families thanks to its protected waters that have given the cove a blue flag.
Ecologists and activists have put all their effort in protecting this little cove from the urbanistic menace that affects the rest of the island, and for that you’ll be able to enjoy some of the most amazing views, like the famous sunset over the Es Vedrà rock, a small island that was separated from Ibiza a long time ago and is considered one of the most magnetizing places in the world.
Playa Cala Vadella
Cala Vadella is another of the coves that I recommend. Perfect for going with kids and spending all day in the beach. It has crystalline waters very missed during the winter. It has its own parking lot, so I have no problems for parking my vehicle, though the only downside is that it’s no longer free. If you go there in the peak season remember to be there first hour in the morning to reserve your deck chair and enjoy the day as you deserve. Plus there are a bunch of restaurants and bars in the cove, so you’ll have plenty to choose from if you’re hungry.
What i like the most about this cove is that you’ll be able to see little piers with the fishermen working, a very unique and traditional image of the island. What I like the least about it is that it’s a pretty urbanized cove, full of buildings.
This cove is located near the Cala d’Hort and the Cala Carbó, so i always try to visit them both at every chance I got.
Recommendation: Watch the cove from the heights before going to it and make some photos as a memento.
Playa Cala Bassa
Cala Bassa is another one of the beaches that you cannot miss. Very crowded and lively.
Know for its turquoise waters and fine sand, its name comes from the Ibizan name for pond, “bassa”, and you’ll be able to see why when you reach the cove. You’ll see groups of children running and playing around a natural pond trying to “catch” some small fishes.
You’ll be able to ride the banana boat and have some laughs with your children. The music can be heard throughout the beach due to the famous Cala Bassa beach bar, the Beach Club. You’ll also have some hammocks and massages available, perfect to enjoy some typical Spanish siesta, my nephews tried it and fell asleep like a rock!
Cala Salada/Saladeta
The location of Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta is one of the most valored one by the residents, but also by the traveleres. They are two coves near one another, but separated by rocks where you can lay down and enjoy the sun, if one is nearly full of people you can always go to the other to look for some tranquility. The coves are also surrounded by the green of pines, and the shallow waters are worthy of attention due to its bright turquoise color.
All the times that i go to this cove i also jump from the cliffs, always with care and making sure that the waters below are deep enough.
