Spring comes with sunshine and the need to get out and enjoy nature. And after this rainy winter Ibiza is greener than ever. If there were cows and ‘cachopo’ you might think you were in Asturias.
For me, these months ahead are the best of all the year since Ibiza is clean, renewed, refreshed and at the perfect temperature.
Something that still surprises me is the number of races and sports activities held throughout the year and especially in Spring.
So this post is dedicated to the more sporty, to those who travel the Spanish geography looking for new races and challenges. Without doubt, one of the healthiest ways to get to know places and towns.
To warm up in March we have the ‘Cursa Popular de Sant Antoni’, with a very level course and distances of 5 and 10 km. There is also a race for children, to start promoting the passion for sports from early on.
Also in March the Formentera All Round TRAIL, one of the most beautiful races on the island, but with some serious distances. If you want to run you’ll have to train seriously since the full race is 72.5 km, running along the entire coast. There are two other options as well, 40 km and 21km, for those of you not as crazy.
April is another important month for runners, this year holds the first Ibiza Marathon, with departure and arrival in Santa Eulalia, with a parallel race of 12 km. Running fans will have an excellent excuse to come and discover the island in their own way.
For bike lovers, there is the MTB Ibiza Tour with a complete set of activities for the whole family to enjoy around a mountain bike.
And for those who are left wanting more Marathon, at the end of the month you’ll find the Ibiza Half Marathon, with two races of 21 and 10 kms. And the same, in Formentera, in May with two races of 21 and 8km.
If you like sports and travel, make some time in your sports calendar and choose the race that best suits your level. Although I warn you that you will probably fall in love with these islands and you’ll be forced to come back every year.
