We love to spend a few days of disconnection and sport on the mountain! Every year we give ourselves a few days in the middle of the cold winter to be in family.
The village of Megève, with the Famille Plus label, certified for its facilities and services for families, is undoubtedly our preferred choice to spend a few days in the snow with the little ones of the house.
As well as visiting the beautiful village, which seems to be taken out of a Christmas story, and spending hours sliding down its ski slopes, there are plenty of activities to share special moments with all the family.
Horse carriage through the village
As soon as you reach the main square of Megève, you can’t help but notice the horse carriages next to the large Christmas tree that decorates the town at this time.
Children enjoy this experience as much as elders, who appreciate a little relaxation and rest
Visit a farm
And if a horse carriage tour through the village has left you wanting more, one of the most fun and interactive activities to do with family is to go on a journey in horse drawn carriage to visit a farm and stables.
There are different excursions to choose from. One of them is an approximate hour-long horse-drawn carriage ride visiting the horse stables where the children will discover where and how their new friends live.
Another option is to visit a family farm, with a guided to see the cows, calves and, of course, the horses.
Skating on the ice rink
What a great time children have falling down on the ice and how do we elders laugh with their adventures! And how do they laugh when we show our lack of skill on the ice rink, without us falling down seeming so funny.
An afternoon on the outdoor ice rink in the centre of Megève means laughter and fun for all the family.
Sledging
There are several areas and tracks around the village tracks where toddlers can spend the hours gliding through the snow again and again with a colourful sleigh.
But what really makes Megève special is that you can find unique activities such as dog and sleigh. Both young and old will enjoy this unique experience in which to learn to lead a sleigh and guide the dogs. Isn’t that great?
These are our favourite activities, but there are many more ways to spend a fun family day in Meèeve.
This year we will go back to the Royal Rochebrune Hotel, a family run hotel at the foot of the slopes where we really feel at home.
